Indonesia's Olympic Medal Triumph
Special tribute editorial illustration dedicated to the Indonesian athletes who won medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics. My heartfelt thanks also go out to all other athletes who gave their best in this monumental event.
Indonesia is competing at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris from 26 July to 11 August 2024. It is the nation's seventeenth appearance at the Summer Olympics.
This is the second time since 1992 that Indonesia failed to win any gold medals in badminton. The only other Olympics where Indonesia was unable to win a gold medal in the sport was the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. However, unlike the 2012 Olympics, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung managed to secure a bronze medal in badminton. On top of that, the country has won two gold medals, the first time since 1992. Veddriq Leonardo won a gold medal in the speed category of Sport climbing whilst Rizki Juniansyah won a gold medal in Weightlifting. Both are the country's first gold medals outside of badminton.
